Africville Museum

The Africville Museum has a large outdoor parking lot. There is sidewalk with a curb surrounding the parking lot. There are a few areas where the curb slants, making it accessible for those with mobility needs.

The outdoor ‘venue’ is a large plot of land overlooking the water. The ground is flat and grassed. There are hills and wooded areas surrounding the flat space. Dogs are not permitted. 

There are two indoor locations in the Museum that do not connect through the inside.

The first area is the museum on the upper floor. There is a wooden deck leading to the door with both stairs and a ramp. There are accessible, gender inclusive washrooms.

The second area is a multipurpose space. The entrance is at the back of the building at the end of a curved, paved trail. This location is also wheelchair accessible. There are accessible, gender inclusive washrooms.

Alderney Landing Theatre

Alderney Landing has gender inclusive washrooms and wheelchair accessible washrooms. 

The cabaret style audience arrangement allows for wheelchair accessible seating.

Art Gallery of Nova Scotia

All areas of the gallery are wheelchair accessible. If assistance or a wheelchair is required, please visit the AGNS information desk.

Elevators are available in both buildings. 

All-gender washrooms are available on the first floor of the south building and third floor of the north building. There are washrooms on the lower level.

Service animals and personal support workers are welcome.

Please note: backpacks, food, drinks, large bags, and umbrellas are not permitted in Gallery spaces. These items must be stored in the AGNS coat room or lockers.

Photography is allowed, without flash. Please do not touch artworks.

Breaking Circus Studio

Breaking Circus Studio is wheelchair accessible. There is a slight incline to get from the parking lot to the main entrance.

All-gender, wheelchair accessible washrooms are available.

The Bus Stop Theatre

2203 Gottingen St, Halifax, NS B3K 3B5

Three all-gender washrooms are available in the lobby, including one that is wheelchair accessible. Changing pads can be made available if needed. Get in touch with Prismatic or ask our staff and volunteers. 

All the entrances and exits have automatic doors. The fire exit on the back of the theatre has stairs.

All public spaces in the theatre are wheelchair accessible. Floors are level throughout the space, with a ramp immediately inside the front door. The bar has a lower and higher portion on both the patron and staff side.

Reserved spaces for wheelchair users will be available in the theatre.

The Carleton

1685 Argyle St, Halifax, NS B3J 2B5

A ramp will be set up at the Argyle Street entrance. 

Five single-user, all-gender washrooms are available, one of which is wheelchair accessible.

The majority of seating at The Carleton is low tables and chairs, and seating at the bar is high stools. Please feel free to let us know your mobility needs in advance so we can reserve seating for you.

All evening performances at The Carleton require audiences to be 19 years or older.

Dalhousie Arts Centre

The Dalhousie Arts Centre has a number of wheelchair accessible entrances. The main entrance on University Avenue has both a ramp and automatic doors. There are wheelchair accessible washrooms and gender-inclusive washrooms.

The Dunn Theatre has wheelchair accessible seating amongst the front row of seats. These are accessible from the third floor of the building (main entrance level).

The Dalhousie Art Gallery is accessible by both stairs and an elevator. You can find the Gallery by descending the stairs or elevator by the main entrance on University Avenue.

The Grand Parade - Grand Oasis Stage

Wheelchair accessible entrances to the Grand Parade are located on both Argyle Street and Barrington Street. These entrances are located on Argyle Street near Duke Street (next to City Hall) and on Barrington Street at George Street (across the street from TD Bank).

There is a single-user, all-gender, portable public washroom located near the Barrington Street entrance.

There will be a reserved area near the stage for attendees with access needs. Please feel free to identify your needs to our volunteers – they can guide you to one of our reserved spaces.

There are several benches, chairs, and picnic tables at the Grand Parade. We encourage you to arrive early or bring your own seating (e.g. blankets, camping chairs) if you would like to be seated during the show. The show can be viewed while standing as well.

Every One Every Day

Every One Every Day has gender inclusive and wheelchair accessible washrooms.

The building is wheelchair accessible and has adaptable seating arrangements to accommodate many needs.

Halifax Central Library

5440 Spring Garden Rd, Halifax, NS B3J 1E9

The Halifax Central Library’s main entrance on Spring Garden road is wheelchair accessible. Queen Street entrance is also accessible by ramp and stairs.

The building has five floors. There are multiple elevators and staircases throughout the library.

There are drinking fountains and accessible washrooms on each floor.

Halifax Citadel National Historic Site

5425 Sackville St, Halifax, NS B3J 3Y3

There are two entrances/exits into the Halifax Citadel: the front entrance/exit is located on the Southeast portion of the Citadel facing the Old Town Clock and Brunswick Street and the back entrance/exit is located on the west side of the Citadel facing Ahern Avenue and Bell Road.

General parking is accessible from the back entrance/exit and located in the ditch or lower level of the Halifax Citadel. Accessible parking is located at the front entrance/exit near the front entrance kiosk.

The Citadel Hill Casemates are not wheelchair accessible.

The terrain leading to the casemates is made of loose gravel.

Washrooms are located in a separate building close by. 

House of Eights Dance Studio

House of Eights Dance Studio has accessible all-gender washrooms.

At the entrance of House of Eights, there are nine stairs going downwards. The accessibility lift is currently out of service.

There is an elevator up to the House of Eights (third floor).

There are non-wheelchair accessible, gendered washrooms, as well as accessible all-gender washrooms.

Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Centre

The Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is wheelchair accessible.

Neptune Theatre Scotiabank Stage

All spaces at Neptune Theatre Scotiabank Stage are wheelchair accessible. 

Multiple single-user, all-gender, wheelchair accessible washrooms are available.

Queen's Marque

The Queen’s Marque is a public, outdoor space on the Halifax waterfront. If there are any changes to Prismatic’s schedule due the weather, we will announce it via social media.

There are public, all-gender, wheelchair accessible washrooms on the boardwalk, approximately a 5 minute walk from the Queen’s Marque area.

Rogers Square, Nova Centre

Rogers Square is a public, outdoor, sheltered space.

Those who wish to view Wolverine and Little Thunder may stand or use the public benches available throughout the Square.

There is some vehicle traffic coming in and out of the parkade level. Please be mindful of the shared road.

Spatz Theatre

Spatz Theatre has wheelchair accessible entrances and seating.

Gender inclusive washrooms are available.

St. Matthew’s United Church

1479 Barrington St, Halifax, NS B3J 1Z2

St. Matthew’s United Church has limited accessibility. There is no wheelchair accessible washroom or seating. 

To get to the washrooms, guests must walk down a flight of stairs. Washroom facilities are gendered.

The building has fixed, wooden pew seating.
